Barrister Aliyu Abdulsalam serves as Velay's Company Secretary and Legal Adviser, bringing extensive expertise in corporate law, energy sector regulation, and contract management. A distinguished legal professional, Barr. Abdulsalam previously served as Senior Legal Officer at PAN Nigeria Ltd, where he specialized in petroleum industry law, regulatory compliance, and commercial transactions.
With comprehensive knowledge of Nigeria's Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, NMDPRA regulations, and corporate governance frameworks, Barr. Abdulsalam ensures that all Velay operations maintain the highest standards of legal compliance and ethical conduct.
As Company Secretary, he manages all corporate governance matters, board administration, regulatory filings, and stakeholder communications. His role is critical in maintaining Velay's reputation as a compliant, transparent, and ethically-operated organization.
Barr. Abdulsalam leads all contract negotiations for major supply agreements, partnership arrangements, and customer contracts. His expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements has protected Velay's interests while enabling mutually beneficial partnerships. He has been particularly instrumental in structuring Velay's export contracts, ensuring compliance with international trade law and customs regulations.
Beyond transactional work, Barr. Abdulsalam advises executive management on regulatory developments, compliance obligations, and legal risk management. He maintains close relationships with NIMDPRA officials and other regulatory bodies, ensuring Velay remains ahead of regulatory changes and maintains all necessary licenses and permits.
